You Are What You Eat Yet, the sad fact is that a significant part of the population is dealing with problems of ill-health. People from all walks of life and every demographic sector are struggling with health problems. It is especially saddening to see children and our loved ones suffering from health problems. This article is going to show you how you can eat your way to a healthy life. Yes, the way to being healthy is eating healthy. Most people don't realize that their eating habits are the root cause of various illnesses and health problems. So, here is a list of tips and techniques that can help you to health, wealth and happiness − just by taking care of your diet! First of all, try to keep to a schedule − breakfast between 7:30 and 9:00, lunch around 1:00, and supper around 7:30 in the evening. Or, you can have brunch around 11:00 instead of a separate breakfast and lunch. The evening meal (except for those special occasions) should be as light as possible and as early as possible. Going to bed on a full stomach is not going to do you any good; in fact, most of our health problems are due to indigestion, and a late-night, heavy meal is a sure-shot way to get indigestion! Secondly, try to MILL your meal − "Make it light and lively!" Have a meal that you enjoy and that just about satisfies you. Don't be pre-occupied with other things when you're eating. Don't dawdle over your food. And veer away from conversation that is full of criticism or anger or negativity; if you're alone then make sure your thoughts veer away from those particular things. Instead, think of pleasant things or enlightening topics. Your emotional state has a lot to do with the digestive process. Being sour in mind during a meal is sure to give you heartburn! Thirdly, there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to health, wealth and happiness. It helps to know one's own constitutional strengths and weaknesses. Maybe dairy gives you the runs − just avoid it, even though it works wonders for your friend. Rich red meat suits you fine − good, go with it, even if you read newspaper warnings about the ill-effects of it. Each one has a different constitution and your body reacts to food according to that constitution. Like I said, it all boils down to eat what suits you, eat what you like, and avoid those troublesome items that you know cause you to pop pills every time you have them. So don't go by blanket warnings and blanket prescriptions − they don't apply to you! Finally, moderation in all matters is a very wise prescription and it is especially true when it comes to your meals. Don't starve yourself, don't gorge yourself − one's just as bad as the other! Moderation doesn't just apply to quantity − it also applies to what we eat. You just love ice-cream but you also know that it helps you put on weight overnight. So don't indulge yourself beyond moderation; have just a small helping and put the rest away. It helps! These tips will help you to enjoy life to the fullest by letting you focus on the important things and persons in your life rather than bothering about aches and pains and doctor's appointments! Have a great and wonderful life! Take care! About the author: ![]() Logged in: Nov. 12, 1947 Logged out: July 12, 2015. Copyright notice: Original Writing Sample Standard copyright applies.
